Good for Children

Milk is a natural food which will provide your children with protein to build muscles, energy and vitamins to grow and calcium to strengthen bones and teeth.

Milk at breaktime can provide about 50% of a child’s daily calcium requirement. During childhood there is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build strong bones, and help to protect against brittle bones (osteoporosis) in later life.

A drink of milk at breaktime can help beat a child’s thirst.

About 50% of primary school children suffer from tooth decay. Dentists are concerned that children drink too many sugary, soft drinks. They say that milk and water are the only safe drinks between meals. Milk is a natural product and does not contain additives, in contrast to sugar-sweetened, high calorie soft drinks.

A 1/3 pint of whole or semi-skimmed milk contains less fat than a packet of crisps or an average chocolate bar.
